Abstract
In this article we propose to take a brief tour of the International History of Asylum Law, from the times portrayed in the Bible up to the present time, through the two World Wars and the important milestone that was the creation of the 1951 Geneva Convention on the Statute refugees, among others. We will focus our study on the role of the asylum institution in the International Juridical Order, making a distinction between the instruments of Universal scope and the instruments of Regional scope that deal with this subject. Finally, we will make a distinction between the concept of asylum and that of refugee.
