THE NATIONAL GUARD IN MEXICO LEGAL, HISTORICAL AND POLITICAL REVIEW OF AN ISSUE AS ANCIENT AS A CONTEMPORARY
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this text we review the vicissitudes that this institution has suffered throughout our history, starting from its first conception, its difficult but brilliant development, until reaching contemporary oblivion, revived by a new meaning in terms of massive but equivocal and erroneous dissemination, confused with the one that exists in other countries, but different from our historical and legal singularity.
Thus, in the first place, the antecedents of the National Guard are presented, to later address its first stage in independent Mexico, in which it assumes the character of a local militia; then the second, in which it is properly known by its distinctive name and that corresponds to its star moment and, finally, what happened
in the twentieth century, in which it is not only forgotten, but even its disfigurement.
Finally, a brief comment is added about the erroneous political proposal that has appeared in the public debate in this year of 2018.
